Retaining the youth in the church is one major concern of every church leader. It has become an old fashion to see young people staying in their parent’s churches. And the major cause for this is the parents and their children are not operating on the same page both on doctrinal and social issues. While the former like to stick to the old ways of doing a thing, the latter belief you can change the methods without changing the message. So, in my personal experience, I figure out the following ways to arrest this ugly trend.

  1. Failure to correct heresy: Bad news spread quicker than the good news. In the same way, it is easier to destroy than to repair. Heretical teaching may appear harmless on the surface but its destructive impact is better imagined than experienced. And one thing about false teaching is its ability to be in tandem with the youths.

Perhaps the danger of Christianity today is the high number of Christian who makes God sick. Did I hear you say blasphemy? Don’t crucify me yet until you read this.

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm neither hot nor cold I am about to spit you out of my mouth Revelation. 3:14-16(NIV). By experience, vomiting is one sign of sickness. So when I say Christian who make God sick, I mean believers who irritate and piss off God.

Life As A Relay, We Win or Lose Together

 

By God’s design, He made our lives as a loop of rings to form a chain. A disconnection means we’re no longer a chain we are. Similarly, life is like a relay race, every member of the team has a stake. So life as a relay, we win or lose together. As the role, the person that kick-start the race is important so is the person who finishes the race. And in-between are athletes who transit the baton to one another. But if any member of the team slacks in his role because he doesn’t take the baton for the last lap of the race then the team will lose the race altogether.
